KidHQ Privacy Policy

Effective Date: October 14, 2019

Hi there and welcome to KidHQ!

KidHQ is an online interactive video experience operated by Interlude US Inc. (dba Eko) and its affiliates (collectively, “Eko,” “we,” “us, or “our”). Here at Interlude, we know that you care about how your information is used during the KidHQ experience, so we’ve put together this Privacy Policy to tell you more about it. Before you read on, grab a parent or guardian so that both of you will read together.

Parents/Guardians – listen up! This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect from children using KidHQ. References to “you” or “your” refer to the child since children are the primary users of KidHQ (except for the “Grown-ups Only” section, which is not directed towards children).

What information do we collect from children on KidHQ, and how do we use it?

Summary: When you’re using KidHQ, we do not collect any personally identifiable information about you. In other words, we do not know who you are and cannot tie any information back to your name, address, or other identifying information. Since no personal information is collected about you, none of your personal information is ever made publicly available.

In one section of KidHQ, we allow you to send a “one-time” email to your parent/guardian when inputting their email address. Once that email is sent, we delete that email address forever.

Our service providers may use your IP address (set of numbers that identifies the device from which you are viewing KidHQ) and other device information for our internal operations, such as to deliver KidHQ to your internet browser. We cannot and do not identify you personally using your IP address or device information.

For more detailed information, see below:

  • Use Analytics: When you enter KidHQ, we add a little text file called a “cookie” to your internet browser. This cookie has a random number assigned to it called a “UserIdentifier.” We also collect other session-related fields (e.g., sessionid) when you’re on KidHQ that are not cookie-based. This UserIdentifier, and other session-related fields, cannot identify you by name, address, or any other identifying information.

Through this cookie, and other session-related fields, we receive anonymous information on things that happen in the KidHQ experience, like how you are interacting with KidHQ (“anonymous” means we can’t tie the information back to you).

This anonymous information is referred to as “analytics” and primarily includes (i) how long you were in KidHQ, (ii) what toys you clicked on, (iii) how long each toy was played with, and (iv) device information (e.g., browser name, operating system name, screen resolution, type of phone and model).

We store these anonymous analytics internally and share reports with our service providers, to support the effective operation of KidHQ. Certain analytics regarding what toys you played with, and how long you played with them, are displayed to your parent/guardian in the “Grown-ups Only” section (as described further below).

Again, remember that these analytics (and the reports we share with our partners) are anonymous and do not relate back to you. We delete the cookie that we placed once your browser is closed (as with the other non-cookie session fields). Next time you open your browser and use KidHQ, you are assigned a completely new UserIdentifier (and new non-cookie session fields are generated). This way, any analytics that we’ve previously collected about your experience cannot be tied back to you in any way when you enter KidHQ within a new browser session.

  • Parent/Guardian Email Address: Within KidHQ, you have the option to send a list of toys that you’ve played with to your parent’s/guardian’s email address. This is a “one-time” email feature that is configured so that no personal information is collected from you besides your parent’s/guardian’s email address. Even then, we delete your parent’s/guardian’s email address after you send the email so that we don’t have it anymore.

  • Service Providers: We use service providers to help support the internal operations of KidHQ, such as to maintain or analyze its functioning (such as crash and performance information), perform network communications, provide security, and fulfill requests that you make (such as sending that “one-time” email to your parent/guardian, described above).

Our providers may receive your IP address and device information in order to carry out its operations on our behalf. However, these IP addresses and other information are not used to track you on different websites or shared with any third parties that are not service providers.

What information is collected in the “Grown-ups Only” section?

The “Grown-ups Only” section is, of course, a general audience section directed at parents/guardians and not intended for children. We have an age-gate that requires users to enter their birthday to help reinforce this.

Here, provided that you make sure you don’t close your browser before your parent/guardian enters the “Grown-ups Only” section, your parent/guardian can see information about what toys you played with and for how long. There will also be links from the toys to the Walmart product page.

Parents/guardians can also email themselves the list of toys that their child played with.

Other Websites/Services

Our online service comprises (a) the KidHQ experience within our proprietary interactive video player and (b) the following microsites that embed this video player: and (the “Microsites”).

Even though KidHQ and the Microsites was created by Eko in cooperation with certain marketing partners, we are the sole operator of these properties and are solely responsible for its privacy practices.

However, our marketing partners, or other companies, may embed KidHQ onto different sites. We may also provide links to our marketing partners or other companies’ sites within KidHQ itself (or through the email sent to parents/guardians). We have no control over the privacy practices or contents of these sites (or the companies that run them), and we are in no way responsible for these sites or companies whatsoever, including how they collect, use, or disclose information. Please refer to their privacy policies to understand their information practices.

We take steps to provide that your information is handled securely and in accordance with this policy. Unfortunately, however, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure and, of course, no security measures are impenetrable. Although we take commercially reasonable measures to protect your information, we cannot guarantee the security of your information transmitted to, or from, KidHQ, Microsites, or related systems. Accordingly, any transmission is at your own risk.

Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, dissolution, reorganization, or similar corporate event, or the sale of all or substantially all of our assets, we expect that the information that we have collected would be transferred to the surviving entity in a merger or the acquiring entity. All such transfers shall be subject to our commitments with respect to the privacy and confidentiality of such information as set forth in this Privacy Policy. This policy shall be binding upon Eko and its legal successors in interest.

Disclosure to Public Authorities

We are required to disclose information in response to lawful requests by public authorities, including for the purpose of meeting law enforcement requirements. We may also disclose information to other third parties when compelled to do so by government authorities or as otherwise required by law or regulation including, but not limited to, in response to court orders and subpoenas.

How Can Parents / Guardians Contact Eko?

Parents/guardians may use our contact information below to submit any inquiries. Children should not contact us but instead must ask their parents/guardians to contact us directly. Please keep in mind that we do not collect a child’s personal information unless a parent provides it to us in an email communication. We will delete any such personal information upon a parent’s request.

Should we decide to materially change our privacy practices, we will, of course, update this Privacy Policy and obtain prior consent from parents/guardians as required.

It is our preference that parents/guardians contact us by email for a faster response.
